BACKGROUND:
Brookhouse Holdings occupy a large area which includes office space, production areas and warehouse space within an iconic building which is Darwen Mill.
Austin Broady Air Conditioning and Ventilation were commissioned to design, cost and carry out air conditioning installation works to the main open plan offices that are densely occupied and due to the construction of the building and with nowhere for the heat generated by the people, computers and lighting to go, the offices were uncomfortably warm even in lower ambient conditions.
The difficulty presented to Austin Broady was how to install state of the art air conditioning and associated services within a building of such character.
AIR CONDITIONING SOLUTION :
Through the initial design stages the tenants and landlords needs were taken on board and a suitably designed system was engineered.
In order to minimize disruption to the client almost 95% of the installation works was carried out in out of hour’s works and the aesthetics of the works was carried out to ensure that there was no great impact to the aesthetics of the building as all the ceilings are exposed, vaulted type with no service voids for pipework and wiring.
From the specific type of indoor units the services were routed from the main office areas out to the external plant area which, were lifted into a foot-well so as again not to impact on the character of the building.
The system design was Daikin heat pump twin and triple inverter systems which utilizes one external heat exchange plant which can be connected to several small fan coil units.
Additional works carried out in conjunction with the air conditioning installation was for all associated builders works and for the supply and installation of a new electrical distribution panel for the newly installed systems.
SUMMARY:
The air conditioning system fitted now provides year round temperature control for all the offices.
