LOCATION: Spanset air cooling the Mezzanine Floor
SOLUTION: Evaporative cooling
BACKGROUND:

SpanSet Limited is part of the SpanSet International
Group which has twelve operating companies across
the world. Based in a modern, purpose-built factory
in Middlewich, Cheshire. SpanSet Limited has been
in operation in the UK for over 30 years.
EVAPORATIVE COOLING SOLUTION :

Two EcoCooler were mounted on the roof along with two extract fans to ensure a balanced flow of air was achieved and to exhaust the hot air that built up immediately under the roof.
The EcoCoolers were installed to introduce cooled, fresh air to the areas where the principally sedentary staff are working.
As the machinists were working with lightweight cotton and nylon fibre it was important not to create high velocity airflow. This was important from an operational and personnel viewpoint
The air was directed using horizontal ductwork at a height of 2.8 m off floor level and a series of double diffuser grilles and registers balance the airflow evenly.SUMMARY:
The working temperatures on the mezzanine floor were immediately reduced and significantly improved the air quality for the staff. Conditions moved from the mid 30°C to a far more pleasant low 20’s even on the hottest of summer days.
In winter the coolers are used on low speed to keep the conditions on the mezzanine floor at an acceptable level
