The Site:

The Arndale Centre in Manchester City Centre houses Foot Asylum & many other outlets and has a retail floor space of 1,400,000sqft, making it Europe’s third largest city centre shopping outlet. Foot Asylum recently hired T.A Knox to refurbish the site.

The Approach:

T.A. Knox are an independent office fit-out company, based in Manchester. T.A Knox are a vital part of Foot Asylums supply chain. T.A Knox employed Austin Broady Associates to install and design new Air Conditioning System for the Foot Asylum Arndale store.

We installed a Mitsubishi WR2 for the site, which utilises water instead of air as an energy transfer medium, but benefits from all the same technology and flexibility of an air sourced VRF. This high efficiency modular system benefits from low emissions and has a low service space requirement, which is ideal for an internal location such as The Arndale.

Austin Broady Associates also designed and installed the duct work for the building, including fireproof duct work. We researched the fire rate duct work and liaised with the buildings consultant to pull together a design for the installation. We designed each system, submitting drawings for approval by the Centre Management. 

The Result:

The Arndale Centre & its consultants were particularly pleased with Austin Broady Associates due to the knowledge of the systems, the research behind the requirements, and the presentation & precision of their work. They felt Austin Broady understood their particular needs and went away to discuss and decide on the most individual & efficient equipment for the job.

Overall, an extremely successful job that the client was very happy with.
